Our History
Founded with love, we purchased the center in 2023 to create a safe and welcoming space for all children. Built on years of early childhood experience, Gitigaaning focuses on strong relationships, cultural connection, and a commitment to helping families grow and thrive.

My name is Shelley, my birthday is March 26th. I live in Hertel with my husband Tom, our 6 kids, Lola, Layla, Lyra, Leela, Luna, and Liza, and our two dogs Charli and Georgie.
I am new to daycare, but I have worked in childcare as a teacher of 3-year-olds at Tribal Head Start for 23 years. I was also the enrollment person and the interim director. I have a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from River Falls, as well as credentials in family services. I love working with children because it brings me joy seeing their faces change after learning something new. l love all the questions and wonder they bring to the world! In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, shopping, and camping."
